Bio

Kevin Weinstein is a freelance wedding photojournalist based in Chicago, Illinois. A former newspaper photojournalist for more than 12 years, Weinstein brings to his clients the ability to capture definitive moments. Attention to detail paired with a skillful instinct embodies the core of his expertise to create high impact images. Kevin's artistry enables him to create a dynamic chronicle that goes far beyond the expected while remaining unmistakably pure. Collaboration between the families and the photographer is paramount, to remain unobtrusive and to provide a seamless flow of events for everyone.

Weinstein’s passion for photography began in 1986 while attending boarding
school in California. Through the tragic loss of a dorm-mate, Kevin
requested a copy of a picture of his friend from the school yearbook editor.
Not having the time to produce the picture, the editor gave him cursory
instruction about how to do this himself. Having accomplished this task
after 8 hours, Weinstein became intrigued with photography and the process
of development and knew this would be a life-long passion.

Pursuing his goal at the San Francisco Art Institute, he followed his degree
in photography with a Master's degree in photojournalism from the University
of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. Upon completing his graduate
work, Weinstein worked for The Sun (Bremerton, Washington), the Memphis
Commercial Appeal, the Albuquerque Tribune, the Oakland Tribune's newspaper
conglomerate called the Alameda Newspaper Group (ANG), the San Francisco
Chronicle, a Manhattan photo agency and The Sun in Illinois.

Mr. Weinstein has also received many awards, scholarships and project grants
during his career. His extensive training and work ethic brings to the
client a person dedicated to his artistry, an understanding of the project
dynamic and an ability to join the worlds of photojournalism and artistic
photography in one compelling piece. With his diverse background from the
laissez faire approach at the Art Institute and the formal, more
conventional training at the University of Missouri, he is able to create
memorable images for his clients.
